Ok so the why...
In the bible , john 3:16, Were told "for who so ever BELIEVES IN HIM"
Now, heres the thing, The word we use for "believes" means "adhear to, lean on, trust in, Rely on" now, i want to point out the last two, "trust in" "rely on". Why? because both of those are heart matters.. Well you see its always been a heart matter..
Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them
and oh, the words of Jesus Himself..
Mat 6:21 for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.
Mat 12:34 Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 22:37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
You see, Its always been a heart issue. By asking the Lord into your heart, your asking him to rule over the deepest part of who you are. You are inviting Christ, to the Core , the very fiber of your being. Asking Christ into our hearts / lifes its not bc were just waisting time on usless words, But its not enough to say lord change the outside..Why? because if only the outside changes then the inside will still be able to corrupt the outside again.. We desire Gods changing in us, to the deepest part of who we are so that his changes, his truth, his word, is like the roots of a big tree, Deeply planted in the earth.
Now there were two other things you said i wanted to touch on....

Be wery of this kind of thinking and Teaching. This thinking has been the cause of many christians departing the faith. Believing they would or are now, little Gods, they have compared themselvs with Christ. something Satan did.. There is nothing that we "UNLEASH" ..what i mean is.. There is no power that we control. We do not summon God as one would a servent or a geni. God works through us when we line up in his will, and we are willing to let him work in us..
Finally..

The thing here is this.. If we only wanted God when we "needed" him then we truly dont have faith in him.
We as humans tend to "need" God alot when trouble comes, but let our lives be trouble free????? we hardly talk to God. God wants us to NEED HIM 24/7 365 days a year. We need to WANT him , DESIRE him in our lives every day...even if you dont know it my new friend, your Spirit NEEDS God every day, Your SOUL needs Christ every day.. YOU!! NEED him ever single day...
