What is the new Jerusalem? Empty
PostSubject: What is the new Jerusalem?   What is the new Jerusalem? EmptyMon May 11, 2009 8:14 pm

I've been reading in Revelation where it talks about the 7 churches. I am where John is addressing the Church in Philadelphia. In verse 12 of chapter 3 in Revelation, it says, Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will I leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. So, what exactly is the new Jerusalem? Is there anywhere where I can find a reference to that or a definition? Thanks. Dawn

What is the new Jerusalem? Empty
PostSubject: Re: What is the new Jerusalem?   What is the new Jerusalem? EmptyTue May 19, 2009 1:08 pm

Howdy Howdy, So heres what i get from your question. Lets start at the following.

i think it comes AFTER the tribulation for two reasons...

1) Jesus said it comes when he returns..
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4

2) The Old Earth & Heaven as we know them are not there.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” Revelation 21:1-2

But What will it look like?? it will be beautiful beyond any thing we know..

*High walls,
*12 Gates Guarded by 12 Angels,
*3 Gates on each side ,
*Each gate has a name of 1 of the 12 tribes,
*12 Foundation Stones with the names of the 12 apostles.
*The length, width, and height of the new Jerusalem will all be 1,400 miles in length. a distance equivalent to almost half of the continental United States!
*the 12 foundation stones are each made of a different Jem.
*The city itself is pure Gold, but clear as glass
*Those 12 gates ?? each gate is made from a single pearl
* And My Personal Favorite... A RIVER OF LIFE!! literally flows through the city.
On each side of this river is a tree which gives new fruit EVERY MONTH.
*There is no NIGHT TIME!! lol

“So he took me in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious stone – like jasper as clear as crystal. The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates. There were three gates on each side – east, north, south, and west. The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” Revelation 21:10-14

“The angel who talked to me held in his hand a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles. Then he measured the walls and found them to be 216 feet thick .” Revelation 21:15-17

“The wall was made of jasper, and the city was pure gold, as clear as glass. The wall of the city was built on foundation stones inlaid with twelve precious stones: the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.” Revelation 21:18-20

“The twelve gates were made of pearls – each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.” Revelation 21:21

“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.’” Revelation 21:3

“Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.” Revelation 22:1-2

“Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.” Ezekiel 47:12
“Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there.” Revelation 21:25

Other Verses.
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own.
Heb 11:15 And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.

“Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.” Hebrews 11:10
