2 Greatest Commandments Empty
PostSubject: 2 Greatest Commandments   2 Greatest Commandments EmptyWed Apr 22, 2009 1:31 pm

joshuajared2000: Welcome ALL to THE OUT TO LUNCH MANNA BUNCH teen/ youth night!!!! every tuesday night, getting into the word with fellowship and friendship!

joshuajared2000: Heavenly Father , I first and formost thank you for giving us each the time tonight to spend in the word. I pray and ask father that your holy spirit would touch each and every one who enters this room tonight.
joshuajared2000: Father even if they dont know you, may they see the love of you, and may they feel the peace of God tonight. We thank you father when so many risk their lives to do this, we can do it in safty.

joshuajared2000:
So we talked the last 3 weeks about the 10 commandment's. But what about the new testament?
In the new Testament we are told of the “2 greatest commandments

joshuajared2000: And Tonight, We are going to explaine what they are, How they effect you, Their Relationship to the 10 commandments and Why for the Christian believers these 2 are a higher standard.
So lets start off with The First of these “Greatest Commandments”.

joshuajared2000:
#1) “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy Heart and with all thy Soul and with all Thy Mind”

joshuajared2000: now im gonna start with reading from MAtthew

joshuajared2000: Trying to trick Jesus, Some one asked him.......
Mat 22:36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the great and first commandment.
joshuajared2000: So I guess the First Question is, Why is this the Greatest?
Well First and Formost Christ didnt leave any thing out.. he didnt say “with some” , Jesus didnt say “well just mix a little jesus here and there” it was “with ALL” All your Heart, Mind and Soul. And it was So for a Very Important Reason...

joshuajared2000: Because You see love is always active,Working in every possible way; with all Its affection and desire, in order to possess and enjoy That which is loved

joshuajared2000: LOVE the lord WITH ALL!!! Work in every way, That in the end you may have that which is your Desire.. GOD.
joshuajared2000: I believe The following is Exactly the Job discription of the man or women who follows this first Commandment.

joshuajared2000: 1. He/She loves God with all Their heart, who loves nothing in comparison of him, and nothing but in reference to him: ready to give up, do, or suffer any thing in order to please and glorify him: - who has in his heart nothing not relating to to God.

joshuajared2000: 2.He/She loves God with all Their soul.Ready to give up life for his sake - to endure all torments, being deprived of all kinds of comforts, rather than dishonor God: - who employs life to glorify God in, by, and through all.
whom life and death are nothing, because they come from and lead to God

joshuajared2000: 3.They love God with all their strength (Mar_12:30; Luk_10:27) Using all the powers of the body and soul in the service of God: These people Spare nothing in the relm of Labor or Cost when it is in refrence to the Will of God
These people sacrifice time, body, health, ease, for the honor of God Our Divine Master: - One who uses all his goods, his talents, his power, credit, authority, and influence For the Glory and Honor of his Lord

joshuajared2000: 4.They Who love God with all Their mind (intellect ) I believe are those who applies to know God, and his holy willwhoReads the Scriptures with submission, gratitude, and pleasure, which God has revealed: -
One who's studies may be on may topics however the most studied is that which His God has given him... The word. -
joshuajared2000: One who banishes from his understanding and memory every useless, foolish, and dangerous thought, together with every idea which has any tendency to defile his soul, or turn it for a moment from the center of eternal repose.
joshuajared2000: Think about eve.. doubting God... For us.. its not a matter of "i think " its a matter of "God Said it... that ends it"
SquirrelPotPie: Amen...God said it!

joshuajared2000: To the believer who applies this commandment.. it is not a matter of "well, i think he ment literal days but he could of ment 1000 years" no .. no and no... God said days ,, we who trust in him believe DAYS.. why?? bc if we doubt the lord how then can we love him with ALL OUR HEARTS MINDS AND SOULS?

joshuajared2000: 4.Simply and constantly looking unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of his faith
joshuajared2000: oops no number 4 on that one lol

joshuajared2000: 4.thinks of him at all times - having his mind continually fixed upon God, acknowledging him in all his ways - who begins, continues, and ends all his thoughts, words, and works, to the glory of his name: - this is the person who loves God with all his heart, life, strength, and intellect. He is crucified to the world,

joshuajared2000: Though we are in the world my friends we are not of it.. when it comes to our HEARTS, SOULS and MINDS they are the lords!! it is with them we seek to bring honor and Glory to our God and it is with them we desire to do his will. God can NEVER take second place to ANY THING IN AND OF THIS WORLD

joshuajared2000: So what about the Second Commandment?
Lets go back to Matthew.
Mat 22:39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

joshuajared2000: Mat 22:40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.
Now this one isnt really super new ya know? Here let me show you...
joshuajared2000: Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people; but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am Jehovah.
joshuajared2000: so as Normal God is connecting all the dots .. right? or is he leading up to some thing more?? lol
Ritchy P: amen
joshuajared2000: check out What Christ said in the book Of John Chapter 15...
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
joshuajared2000: The new commandment contains a completely new standard of love .
You see Those under law were to love Their neighbor as he loved himself--
the standard In the Old Testament was of SELF-LOVE.

joshuajared2000: The believer today is to love others as Christ loved him- Not as he loves himself This new standard a ....call if it you will... is a CALVARY LOVE!

joshuajared2000: The greatest love a man can ever have is to lay down his life for his friend , but Christ did something far greater than that. this is gonna blow you away... even know i knew this already.. to see if worded like this is just awsome... ready? here check this out...

joshuajared2000: He laid down His life for those who were His enemies (Rom. 5:6,8 "
Rom 5:6 For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.
*** FrightenedScarredDontHurt has joined the room ***
joshuajared2000: Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

joshuajared2000:
As we study the New Testament , Its no surprise that although the old commandment is still mentioned (Ephesians 5:33; Rom. 13:9), there is great stress and emphasis upon the new commandment.

joshuajared2000: For example, Ephesians 4:32 teaches that the believer is to forgive others EVEN AS GOD HAS FORGIVEN HIM. The verse does not say, "forgiving one another, even as you would have others forgive you (the old Standard).
joshuajared2000:
Ephesians 5:2 is another example : "walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us." And again in Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it.
" Notice that this verse does not say, "love your wives, EVEN AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF." or "love your Wives if they cook a really good meal"
joshuajared2000: You see... thats what seperates us .. for Christians today.. thats the true difference between the old "SELF" and the New "CHRIST"

joshuajared2000: now i wanna turn to Galatins for a second bc i believe it gives us an awsome picture when it comes to the commandments and christians.

joshuajared2000: ok Chapter 3, were gonna start with 16-25 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
joshuajared2000: 17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

joshuajared2000: For us, the law isnt over, or dead or to be ignored... but again there is a higher standard for the believer in Christ. lets conitnue.. 19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

joshuajared2000: <-- you see God had a purpose for the Law... "Till the Seed COMES" 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law." You see the law cant save us.. the law cant redeem us.. But who can? CHRIST.... and now we get to the interesting part of this Chapter..
joshuajared2000: 22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

joshuajared2000: You see the law taught us alot.. When we would say to people "how have i sinned" they could refrence the 10 commandments and show us an example of sin.. "have you stolen any thing? "yeah why?" "Gods word tells us here "thou shall not sin, you acting in dissobedience to GOD, have sinned"

joshuajared2000: The law was our Direction to Christ. It was showing us examples of sins that we may be lead to the Destination of our Faith and Redemtion.. Jesus christ. 25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

joshuajared2000: You see, When it comes to the Christian and the commandments, they are in fact important.. but it is not the Law we live by.. It is not the Law that will save us, it is not the LAW that will redeem us. That is why Christ said "AS I HAVE" any one can WORK in their own power.... how many are willing to let Christ work in his?

joshuajared2000: This is the higher standard for Christians.. to no longer live in self, and do what they can, by their own .. But to love as christ loved.. If we love the lord our God with all our Hearts, we wont use his name in vain,
joshuajared2000: We wont have other Gods before him. If we love the lord our GOd with all our SOUL and Minds We will truly be living the first set of commanments. If we love our neigbors as CHRIST LOVED.. we wont covet them, steal or lie to them/from them.

joshuajared2000: The Standard for us is this.. the law is important. its how we teach people of the sin in this world.. but to us.. Our Standard is not based on the law which men try to keep.. But upon CHRIST who kept all laws. To love the enemy, the sinner, the LOST (HELL BOUND) the HURTING, enough to lay down our lifes!!! if it brings them to CHRIST

joshuajared2000: So to wrap this all up.. OLD standard says "here are 10 things, you can do yourself" "here are 10 things to show you what sin is and what you should avoid" the new Standard. the Standard of CHRIST says... NOT BY MY WILL!!! NOT I ... BUT... CHRIST... love as he loved, live as he lived.. love enough to die, to be beaten with bone and rock

joshuajared2000: Love enough to carry a cross for our GOD, love enough to Look at the one who nails us down and beg the father to forgive them

joshuajared2000: Desire Gods truth.. use the 10 commandments to show people sin.. but as the bible is clear... for us believers.. There is a Higher Standard... and that is Christ.. we can live by the 10.. or follow the 1.

joshuajared2000: Heavenly Father thank you for this evening.. as we enjoy this wonderful music, father i ask that you would reach down and open our hearts/ears and minds.. father if im wrong on any thing i have spoken, then i ask for correction. I ask that you would allow us to enjoy the fellowship tonight. That you bring peace tonight.
